Thought I'd start a quick blog and see where it takes me.
I'm Rob and I'm based in the UK.
Joined NYVS today. I just decided to take my film making a little more seriously. I bought a second hand Sony HVR-Z1E froma good freind of mine and am excited about the possibilities this camera gives me. Whilst its a little old, it is still an awesome camera and can do so much more than the handhelds I also own.
Decided to start right at the beginning with the basic courses. I probably am more advanced than they actually cater for but I want to make sure I leanr good habits from the pros and set myself a good foundantion.
A little background about me. I'm 34, a former lawyer but have been self employed for the past 3 years. I run a number of business including a turnaround consultancy where I still get to use my legal knowledge.
However, the freedom of self employment has opened new doors. I also run a number of information marketing businesses. All of these use lots of video - hence my joining here. Oh, and I also own an Italian restaurant.
However, its not all about work. I recently found myself divorced and whilst I'm enjoying the freedom in one sense, I'm in need of a hobby beyond just grinding it out in the gym. Video and film making sounds like fun, so here I am.
Would welcome any guidance others may have who are little further into their journeys. Any particular courses anyone would recomend?
