Sunday Morning Cartoons-Ub Iwerks Flip The Frog "Fiddlesticks"

The story of Ub Iwerks life is interesting and tragic. You can read the whole story on Wikipedia and in the book his grandaughter recently published The Hand Behind the Mouse (Disney Editions, 2001). He was the creator of Mickey Mouse and Flip The Frog who I consider the better of the two characters. Unlike, the one dimensional Mickey; Flip is a very real and mischevous sprite. Ub Iwerks cartoons are as surrelistic and nightmarish as they are childlike and innocent.I choose to showcase Flip The Frog as my first Sunday morning classic cartoon for two reasons. One, it shows a really early prototype for the character that became Mickey Mouse. Two, it shows the power of animation without words.I hope you all enjoy this and please tell me what you think.
