Hasselblad TV

Last year, Lisa bought me a digital Hasselblad for my birthday.

These are the Rolls Royces of stills cameras.

And they cost nearly as much.

Sometimes, when I am out shooting with the Hasselblad, people will ask me 'does that thing do video'.

It is clearly the size of a video camera. But it doesn't.

It does, however, make stunning stills.

So I was a bit astonished to recieve an email today announcing the launch of HasselbladTV.

They don't allow embeds, so I can't.  But here's the link.

I don't know what they have in mind for content, but they're asking for submissions from Hasselblad members (of which I am one!)

And some of these guys (not I) are among the best photographers in the world - so maybe as they migrate to video, they'll find a home here.

Who knows?

But one thing this shows for sure is that every company in the world is going to get into online video.

Every one of them.

They don't allow embeds? That's the secret sauce that made YouTube ubiquitous. I get that HTV is setting itself up as a "peer-reviewed" site, as opposed to the free-for-all that is YouTube. And that makes sense given the Hasselblad brand. But still ... leaving out the embed feature seems short-sighted. What am I missing?
