Being A Black Man

Posted on December 3rd, 2009 Written on michael's blog

Do you like this?

Last week, The Washington Post fired Travis Fox, their only emmy award winning VJ. In fact, the only person who has ever won an emmy for a newspaper.

We don't know where The Post is headed, but we hear that they are moving away from video, which is tragic.

It's tragic because it is going to distance the paper and its rich editorial staff from where the web.. and the world, are headed.

We'd like to make a case to the paper to rethink their decision.

Today, we're posting a link to one of the very impressive multi-media reports that they have done so well.

This is Being A Black Man.

Many thanks to Prof. Ken Kobre at San Francisco State University who teaches a course in videojournalism and who makes me aware of so much that is great VJ work online.

Is it just me, or is it really hard to find the video on the NYT site? I spent 3 minutes trying to find and and eventually gave up.
