Reality TV dominates television, but unfortunatelly most of it is pap - cupcake wars.

Turns your brains to jello.

But before there was reality there were documentaries and they were ground breaking for television - Harvest of Shame, NBC White Paper, The Army McCarthy Hearings.  A long time ago the networks gave up on the genre. Too expensive and no audience.

Now, a cutting edge award winning filmmaking team is creating an entirely new kind of genre - one that marries all the character driven drama and immediacy of 'reality' to the hard edged facts of documentary.

Brick City.

Shot entire in Newark, New Jersey, they are launching their second season.

It's the vision of collaborating filmmakers Marc Levin ("Gang War: Bangin' in Little Rock" and the Showtime cop series "Street Time") and Mark Benjamin ("The Last Party," "Jails, Hospitals & Hip-Hop"), with Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker a fellow executive producer.
