"Video is invading all aspects of our lives" and in three years will account for 90 percent of Internet traffic, says David Hsieh, VP for Marketing and Emerging Technologies at Cisco in this interview with Beet.TV.
Video isn’t just for entertainment anymore. It’s crossing over into all
aspects of our lives. As an example, Hsieh says that he recently met with a
client that works in the healthcare industry and that he learned that some
hospitals are now turning to online video as a means to educate patients
about how to continue their care after they leave the hospital. He says,
“You’re really seeing the use of video purvey everything we do, whether it’s
work, live, learn or play, and we see that there’s going to be phenomenal
growth over the next decade or more.”
Thus, video literacy, which is what we are really teaching here - how to communicate your ideas in video,
is critical for everyone for the future, whether you work for a major company, have a website, or just want
to communicate something.
This isn't about 'fimmaking' or 'great home videos' any more.
This is about surviving in the next five years and thereafter.
