Editing Class At Sea
OK.
I am writing this blog somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.
We are aboard the Crystal Symphony running our video bootcamp at sea.
Yesterday we left Bermuda and now we are headed due south toward St. Maartens, our next landfall, which we should reach in two days.
The 'sea days, which is what they call them here, give us a chance to teach everyone to edit. We're using iMovie11, and so far, so good.
We handed out cameras to everyone and they shot lots of great footage in Bermuda. (Close up on the hands, close up on the face). Now, we're busy cutting away.
The facilities aboard ship are pretty remarkable. As you can see we have a roomfull of nearly 50 brand new iMacs. Unbelievable!
And of course, you can't find more pleasant surroundings to learn how to make great video than here.
(Unless you want to come to London with us next month!)
Meanwhile, we're running a lecture every morning and edit on board for the rest of the day.
Days ashore are spent (and will be spent) gathering up footage about the trip, but there's also a ton to shoot on board ship.
I just shot a series with the on-board chamber music group with my iPhone. Fantastic.
We'll keep you up to date as the cruise progresses, but we're already planning for next years!
