Do you like this?

Frontline, the award-winning PBS documentary series announced today that it shot segments for it's latest show, "OBAMA'S WAR" with a Canon 5dmkII camera.

This is a 35mm digital stills camera with video capability.

The decision by Frontline to use the Canon marks a turning point in the evolution of video technology.  Frontline is best known for the quality of its images and shooting.

It would seem that we are fast approaching a time when the camcorder and shoulder mounted camera are relics of the past.

Hi Roger I think that eventually Canon and Nikon will have to change the ergonomics of the design. Even though they make a great product, it still works and looks like a 35mm camera, which is great when your exposure time is 1/250th of a second, but not so good when its 10 secs. A few more generations, no doubt. But glad you are working on it. M

Hi Michael. It Roger.( Recent DC TCA Alumni) I am learning to shoot with my Canon 7d and let me tell you its not easy! The picture quality is excellent, but holding the thing steady requires practice and some kind of shoulder brace to help. Nonetheless, it is pretty amazing to be able to do it with an EOS. I still find it easier to pick up a quality camcorder such as a Canon or Panasonic, but I notice I am getting better at holding the EOS steady as time goes by. Also, no live zooming.
