The best in online video journalism
In 1935, Henry R. Luce, the founder and Chairman of Time Inc launched Life Magazine.
For more than a generation, Life Magazine was the gold standard for print publications that wanted to tell their stories in photos.
Luce was able to make Life so compelling and so powerful because he seized on the confluence of two relatively new technologies at the time: small, high quallity cameras and fast film and color presses that could run hot and thus deliver glossy and very high quality photography.
Luce found the best photographers in the world and gave them a platform without compromising either their art or their journalism.
TV killed Life, but great visual stories still exist all over the world, and almost no website does them justice - either for the journalism nor for their art.
There is one exception: Mediastorm.org.
Mediastorm is the child of Brian Storm, who I met several years ago. There is no site in the world that does a better job of providing a platform for what is, to my thinking, the best video journalism online anywhere.
Take a moment and take a look at Mediastorm
The images are stunning, the stories fantastic, the journalism incredibly well done.
Now, Brian has just launched a new and improved version of his site.
