Michelle Michael Wins NPPA VJ of the Year

The NPPA, The National Press Photographers Association is the gold standard for video news.

It took them a long time to come around to the idea of a VJ.

Yesterday, they named Michelle Michael as their Solo Video Journalist of the Year.

She is with the Armed Forces Network in Germany.

She still shoots with a big camera, but I am sure that will change with time as well.

In the meantime, in 'other news', Keith Olbermann from MSNBC has not only agreed to join Current TV, he is apparently going to become the News Director.

Well, the confluence of these two events gives us hope that Mr. Olbermann, although a product of a network experience, will soon embrace Current's original mission - to provide a platform for the best of the VJ (with an emphasis on the journalism) from around the world.

And while we are there, let's also give a tip of the hat to our old friend Raul Gallego Abellan, who was nominated for a Royal Television Society award for best journalism.
