Movie Shot with Canon 5D Makes $200,000 on iTunes
reminds me of A Man and a Woman
In 1969, French director Claude Lelouche shot and edited the outstanding French film, A Man and a Woman.
If you havent' seen it, go.
Lelouche had a background in commercial photography and shot the whole thing in B&W.
It was considered an extremely radical thing to do.
But it got a massive response
A Man and a Woman won many awards, including the Grand Prix at the 1966 Cannes Film Festival,[1] the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and the Academy Award for Best Writing, Story and Screenplay – Written Directly for the Screen. Aimée was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Lelouch for Best Director.
Now, cinematographer/producers Michael and Mark Polish, twin filmmakers who began their careers at Sundance in 1999 with the debut of their first feature, Twin Falls Idaho, have pulled off the same trick - this time using a Canon 5D to shoot a feature film.
Their latest work, a film called “For Lovers Only,” was filmed entirely with a Canon 5D using natural light (and in the case of one scene in a club, the light from an iPhone). Other than food, the brothers didn’t spend any money making the film, meaning the $200,000 it’s brought in on iTunes after only 12 days is all profit.
