Way back in 1990 I was out raising money for a new idea I had.
I wanted to give video cameras to the world's best photojournalists and turn them from photographers to videographers.
I thought it would be great if we could take the power of the best of photo journalism and translate it to TV video journalism.
My first investor was a man named Nick Nicholas, who was then the CEO of Time/Life - soon to become Time Warner.
Nick took me over to the Time/Life building and introduced me to a photographer named David Hume Kennerly.
He had been the White House photographer during the Ford Administration and was now working for Time Magazine.
"Teach David to do video" he said.
So I did.
On the very first VJ piece I ever did with someone else, David Kennerly and I went to Cambodia and Vietnam and produced a piece for Nightine on ABC.
David Hume Kennerly is the Dean of the world of photojournalists.
And now, he's doing something even more powerful than going into war zones with his camera.
Heartsapart.org is a wonderful organization.
Take a look at their website.
Perhaps there is something you can do for them as well.
One never knows.
