The AARP Goes to Video

Posted on November 3rd, 2010 Written on michael's blog

Do you like this?

My grandma, the VJ

This is a charming video.

What makes it interesting, however, is that it is posted on the AARP website.

That would be the American Association of Retired People.

One normally does not think of 'retired people' as making videos, but this is far from the truth.

A few years ago we ran a series of video training bootcamps for Erickson Retirement Homes.  We trained more than 150 people, aged 75+ to make videos.

That project became the Retirement Living Network on cable.

In those days, AARP was not interested in video.

Now they are.

The AARP site is more than informational. It's a community. It's a social network online,

And one of the best ways of communicating ideas or telling stories is through video.

Like this one.

I like My Grandma's Tattoo

I am looking forward to My Grandma's Video.

*Special thanks to Ken Kobre for making me aware of this one.
