The BBC Learns To Shoot and Edit

Posted on May 17th, 2010 Written on michael's blog

Do you like this?

We spent last week with The BBC's Natural History Unit.

Based in Bristol, these are the same people who brought you the series Blue Planet and LIFE and Meerkat Manor.

They make really good TV.

But they do it with crews and directors and producers and PAs and runners...

They are very talented people, but for the most part, completely video illiterate.

So The BBC asked us what would happen if we trained the staff to shoot and cut their own ideas.

We ran a 4-day bootcamp with them, and taught them exactly the same techniques that are here on nyvs.com

Almost word for word. The whole beginners section.

These were people who had never touched a camera or an edit before in their lives.

Four days later, just look at what they can do.
