I just completed an online survey for the beta test of VOOK
Vook is touted to be the next generation of Kindle digital books, except this time they can handle video as well as text.
We'll see.
But the concept is clearly tantelizing.
My hope is that VOOK goes beyond simply appending to video to text, (like photographs), but rather takes the bold step of creating a whole new grammar that melds text and video as a kind of digital tapestry.
The technology is here to do that, and it has never been here before.
The historical prescedents are here as well:
When Gutenberg invented the printing press, the very idea of a novel was nonexistant.
There were not only no novels, there was no standardized grammar, no periods, no punctuation at all, no paragraphs, no nothing.
It all had to be invented over hundreds of years of trial and error.
We are now with video where Gutenberg was with grammar 500 years ago.
There's a lot to do here!
Let's get going.
