When TV News Gets Democratized You Get The Truth

Posted on December 11th, 2010 Written on michael's blog

Do you like this?

Denis Ryan - You won't see this on The Today Show...unfortunately

Here's a video clip from  a reporter who identifies himself as Jason Calabri from the Financial News in Canada

As it turns out the reporter is actually Halifax comedian Tony Quinn.

He thought he had 'punked' musican turned entrepreneur Denis Ryan.

What he did instead was get some of the most honest reporting on the Irish Economic Crisis - and maybe the rest of the world's as well, that any of us have seen so far,

How refreshing to hear the truth.

Finally.

Allnovascotia.com ran the piece on Friday.

Now it's going viral on Youtube.

And with good reason.

I tell you the truth, it's the best reporting on the Economic Crisis I've seen so far, punked or not.

And if The Today Show ran something like this, I would stand up in my pjs at breakfast and applaud.

But they don't.

And consequently, neither do I.

Not cool, a few facts but not necessarily information that will help. This example seems to indicate that journalism is a mic at one end of the transaction and a lack of good sense at the other.
