Win $10,000 Worth of Film-Making Equipment

Posted on June 27th, 2011 Written on michael's blog

Do you like this?

This is videojournalist Robb Montgomery, who has absolutely nothing to do with this contest - I just liked the photo.

Ikan Corp, (not to be confused with ICANN), seems to be a video equipment supply company.

They are running a contest offering $10,000 worth of video equipment for the best short film.

I came across this on the web, and I have no idea who they are, or who any of the judges are for that matter.

That having been said, (and having just seen Super 8 last night), I would say - go for it.

You can always use new gear.

Based on what I see on their site I like the zombie movie the kids make in Super 8 better.

But what do I know?

In any event, contest rules etc. at the link above or here.

Basically the contest seems to want videos under 3 1/2 minutes about "Where's the Missing Piece" as a theme and promoting Ikan as much as reasonably possible in the video. So I'm expecting NYVS members to dominate this and I'd be surprised of djgregallen doesn't win. I liked the Super 8 Zombie movie too, but let's remember, it wasn't actually made by kids...
