Wired Magazine takes a shot at the iPad
There are now more than 1 million iPads in circulation, and we're just getting started
Magazines and newspapers can clearly see the potential for taking their content to the iPad, and charging for it.
Here's Wired Magazine's shot.
And with more than 100,000 subscribers in the first few days, it looks like they get the concept and people are willing to pay for it.
That's good news for us, because a lot of the content of these iPad magazines are going to be in video. And who is going to make that video?
Probably you. Because newspapers and magazines can't afford to pay production companies and conventional crews to crank out the volume of material that these constantly updated and changing apps are going to need.
And every magazine or newspaper that is going to survive is going to have to do this.
Even the FT announced last week that they were probably going to discontinue paper publishing by 2015.
Meanwhile, if you really want a look at the future, here's what Alexx Henry is doing for the iPad and VIV Magazine. Probably a bit too radical for Newsweek.. but then again, who knows if there is even going to a Newsweek in the next few years.
