I enjoyed it... I gave you very high rankings (and I don't do that easily). I like the lighting and the color grading. The story is good because it is pure and raw.

@vacationlifestylemedia: Thanks! The purpose of the video was to recap what was happening throughout the day for our church & for those who donated food. We posted a series of videos every hour on Facebook during Thanksgiving so people could be updated. It was tough to get interviews with recipients of the meal because they were homeless and did not want to be on video. At the park I had to be quick with my shots because people started were not comfortable with the camera out.
You could generate more impact if you had the actual recipients of the meal stating "best meal ever" rather than volunteers making the statement. This is a heartfelt video, but what is the purpose of it?
djgregallen, appreciate the feedback. Yes, a lav would have been so much better. The Rode Video Mic is not as good as I thought it would be. Using a zoom h1 with another mic, sounds way better!
Well done. Great example of the lesson Michael was teaching. Great cuts, great CUs, great storytelling. And you called it on the lav...but you definately got across the audio you needed to. Kudos
great great shot! I love it...I live here in the bay area...i will like to get in touch with you regarding film-making...my email is ben@ibenjamen.com...pls send me your info...thanks for sharing
It is definitely an awesome lens! Awesome, thanks for the info, I feel like it would be so great it everyone wrote what they shot with all the time. You've inspired me to think more about setting a mood and style with light and lenses in my videos...
No...the opening shots were from a Helios 44m prime lens. It's a russian made lens from the 1960's. It's an awesome lens. Most of the close up shots are from the Vivitar 70-210. The shots from the park at the end of the video are from a Minolta 50mm prime lens.
Thank you GracePo...I forgot to mention, that one of the lenses I was using was a Tokina 11-16 (not vintage) for a couple wide shots. Thanks again for the feedback.
