Did the first five shot method exercise in a restaurant and loaded it up on my videos here. I think I got 7 different scenes there. Missed the wide angle on one of the scenes; woman reading menu scene.
Ok I uploaded my first 5 shot sequence. I just did it for one event, rather than for 7 different views, just to make sure I don't do it wrong 7 times. I'd like some feedback. BTW, it's really simple, I just did what you said, didn't add narration or music or anything.
Well, finally I clicked on the upload exercises button and I saw the instructions there. So I got most of my answers. I wish I'd known there would be such extensive instructions there before. I had expected the button to just ask me for the filename. I'd still like to know if there are ideal dimensions or filesizes for the video you'd like to see.
What size video file is acceptable or reasonable to upload? My video started out at 39 MB, which seems way to big to upload. I also have a 13 MB version. Then I finally got a 4.8 mB version, but it is small. If you open it in a full size media player window, it looks pixelized and looks like crap. If it opens the media player (so the window size is correct), it looks fine.
Hey Mike I have finished the lesson. And you are right that you should always get a set of things you want to film. Plus it seems that a camera makes people a little squeemish. I would like to get your feed back if you can. Its called Junior's Barber Shop. A day in the life.
Perfect. You see how easy it is. When you do the edit you don't have to use all 10 seconds. Take the cut when it feels right. The shooting is perfect. In this case you could also have taken an extreme wide (through the window, outside the house - I would assume). You see how when you watch it, it almost tells a story through the video alone. good start. m
Do you see how your camera 'floats' a bit when you are shooting. Really lock down. Don't move it a millimeter when you are in record. Also, try some extreme close ups, it will help drag the viewer more into the film or video. Once you elect to shoot something really concentrate on the 'don't move the camera' rule.
Yes! That is exactly right. You have a bit of camera 'bounce' which you should try and avoid, but overall you see how the sequences essentially already tell the story and drive it forward. Very nice job!
You take the trouble to shoot, edit, post and let me know it's there, I will take the trouble to screen it and critique it. That's why we're here. If I missed it, let me know. It may take me a while to get to it (sorry), but I will.
Hi Michael, really liking your instruction so far. I have just brought myself the new Canon XA10 and I am am really excited to get into this..looking forward to your feedback.
