The Beachtek device is also veery pricey...but worth your money. The thing that sucks is that my Handycam does not have a headphones jack.

I use an Azden shotty mic and I use a Beachtek xlr connector since my Sony HDR-CX160 only has a 1/8 connection. It is great.
