Part 3: ...to 'clean house' occasionally. To use the Render Manager go to the Tools menu and choose Render Manager from the pulldown. You'll see folders for Each project and more folders in there for each sequence. To delete, click in the "Remove" column until you see a checkmark appear. Then click OK. Don't worry if you happen to delete render files that you needed for your sequence, you can always re-render. 1 : Helpful Not Helpful

Part 2: Render files are associated with your sequence, not the individual clip. So every time you change or move the rendered portion of your sequence, it will become un-rendered again and will need to be rendered again to be seen. Final Cut pro automatically stores these files in the Render folder that you designated when you set up your project. These files can build up quickly and take up a lot of space on your hard drive, so it's a good idea to use the Render Manager (cont part 3) 1 : Helpful Not Helpful

At the very top of the timeline, you'll find the Render Bar. Sometimes you'll see green or red in the render bar. Green means that you are able to preview the clip or effect, but red means that it has to be rendered. Some effects don't need to be rendered such as simple video dissolves, but more complex effects will need to be rendered. When you render something, the computer is actually creating a new physical file on your hard drive that allows the clip or effect to be seen. (Cont part 2) 1 : Helpful Not Helpful
