Hi - thanks. This was really useful. Quick question. I only have one firewire port on my macbook pro. I have to plug my camera into it, which means I can't use my hard drive with a firewire connection, only USB. Someone told me I could 'loop them together' so both use the same firewire port but I don't really know what that means. Can you help?

Seems to be lot of fuss about tape and firewire. Tape is not obsolete it is just another medium and captures the same vision and quality. Tapeless is not worse, just quicker to capture. Firewire cards are easy to put into most desktop computers and readily available. Technique and filming know how cannot become obsolete. They are your most important assetts.

What if your computer doesn't have a firewire port is there an exterior port connection or do you have to have another computer?
