I actually do professional photography, and totally agree and totally not agree, Agree: first if your a journalist and you start directing you can get fired, I mean were do you stop faking, adding a little bush to the picture to make it more balanced, that seems innocent enough, but it is not, you are altering the truth. Next thing you know you start adding a protester in a strike because he was just there anyways and you missed him so what harm do you do and so you go on the slippery slope or a stepping stone to plain lying. But if you do explainatory piece about a school and you have to photograph the teacher wile he is eplaining to the students in person and the only thing you get to see is his bald spot because he is standing up and leaning over the table all the time what do you do, yep there you go, you ask him to sit down please, oops you just started directing. Also as a photographer you have to think about light, no light hitting his face and he might as well not be there.

that's a good spiritual lesson too. it is the difference between controlling what you want to be and working with what is. It is easier, less stressful and more spiritual to master working with with what is. I like seeing this lesson applied to video. thanks.
