Thread : Canon VIXIA HF S21 Full HD Camcorder w/64GB Flash Memory

Hi

I would very much appreciate anyones opinion on the canon hf s21 camcorder. The reviews suggest poor battery performance and poor audio. I can but a bigger battery but can the audio problems be resolved with and external mic?

Thanks much :-)

Thanks for the info. I did buy the Canon hf s21 but took it back the next day. It felt really cheap and there was something loose inside of it probably shipping damage. Anyway, I've decided to wait on the Canon Vixia HF G10. Hope I have better luck with that one

I recently bought the HF S30, Canon's newest Vixia camera and big brother to the S200. While its one of the best consumer cameras on the market and, in my opinion, one of the best values out there, it didn't have the manual features I need and has only one small sensor. Still, if you're on a budget, its a great choice.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like I will like it. They had a 300.00 price drop so I guess I'll run out and help the economy a little. :-) Will definitely get a bigger battery. I'll get it locally so I can return it without hassle if I decide to. Have a great day many thanks

Hi Rick,

I own the HFS 200 which is the cheaper brother (whitout internal memory and viewfinder) of the HFS 21. beside the meomry and viewfinder the cameras are exactly the same. I have to say in general i am quite happy with it. and the standard battery does not run very long, but you can buy OEM batteries with 3 times the capcity for around 25 dollars on ebay (get the chipped ones!). audio is not bad but an external mic is definately a recommendation (but that is for all handycams). the only thing i do not like much about the camera is the unlogical menu setup and the touch screen. its not a big issue, but worth mentioning.
I am now saving myself for a NEX-VG10 that is in my opinion 'The Hammer" as it has changeable lenses so you can create real shallow DOF. and by that make real cinema like footage. if you think of buying the HF S21 new it would be worth looking in to it, as it is not so much more expensive, if you buy it of the internet (like i.e. ebay)
