Thread : Record Mode??

Posted on Feb 08, 2011 at 01:29 pm

Hi guys,

I've got myself an NEX VG10 but I don't understand the rec Mode options of:  FX 24M FH 17M or HQ 9M... which is the best quality to use??

Also if I shoot in 16:9 ratio does that mean when I import the picture on FCE will look like the widescreen box within a screen - best to stick to 3:2 ratio?

Any help would be wonderful

Thank you so to clarify - If I'm shooting for my youtube channel FX 24M is fine however if I were to shoot for another person who wants to use the footage on their website AND I'm burning to AVCHD then switch back to FH 17M.. Think I'm going to have to look at what I burn out to as never paid attention but have a wedding to record in a couple of months.

An AVCHD disc is a high quality DVD platform. So if you intend to burn your final product to this format, you may want to use the FH 17Mbps instead of the FX 24 Mbps. Otherwise it shouldn't matter.

ah another question? I get a warning when I switch to FX 24M which says FX cannot be dubbed to an AVCHD disc... does that matter?

Hello, Nice camera! Congrats. The best quality would be the FX 24 Mbps 1920 x 1280 (megabits per second). The higher the Mbps the better the quality. Also best to shoot in 16:9 and FCE will adjust the timeline accordingly.
