Thread : Wireless Mic Help

Posted on Jul 05, 2011 at 09:52 pm

I am looking to purchase my first wireless lavalier microphone system. I know the Senheisser Evolution was recommended; however my camera (Sony HXR-MC50U) does not provide an audio Db meter. Are there any wireless systems that provide a meter on the receiver display for around $500.00 along with wireless system, or is a Db meter not a necessary component to capturing good audio? Or, should I train my ears to test audio through a set of headphones?

Very much appreciative for any and all advice,

eaharvey

Hi eaharvey, The Sennheiser EW112-p G3 Camera Mount Wireless Microphone System with ME2 Lavalier Mic (A / 516 - 558 MHz) goes for around $599 and has a db meter built into the display on both the receiver and transmitter. You should check your audio levels on the wireless system and wear at least one side of your headphones (the lav mic side is preferable) while you are shooting to be sure that you are acquiring good audio.
