Thread : Developing projects - What is a treatment?

I have the shooting & editing skills - I've done stories that are short self generated projects, but I'm now pushing to do more serious paid video content - I keep hearing about creating a treatment for a project - anyone have feedback in layman's terms as to what a treatment is and hw to prepare/create on?

In my experience, treatments are usually written documents of 1-5 pages that discuss the shooting style, narrative direction, locations, characters, etc. that you intend to feature in the piece. If the group asking for the treatment likes what you broadly propose in this document, they made ask you to flesh it out a bit more, and perhaps shoot some sample locations, etc. to give them a more visual representation of your intended direction.
