Thread : Final Cut Problems

Posted on Jul 06, 2010 at 09:02 pm
I have been using final cut for nearly two years and it is just now acting up. I can not get it to read my camera. I am not sure what is wrong. I tried changing the A/V settings and it still doesn't allow me to capture video. Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Be aware that incorrect hook up between camera and computer could result in burning your camera's DV board up!

The thing is, when I click capture, a box pops up that says I need to set an audio or video digitizer. I have never seen this before. the whole capture box changed from what it was a week ago. I am capturing everything to an external HD. How should I set my files to capture to the HD? Also I am not really sure where to go to follow the instructions on the first one. When it comes to this kind of stuff I am learning slowly. But thanks for responding. that is more than I can say to the other people i have asked.
Thanks,
Danny

Hi Danny,

Sometimes your user preference file will get corrupted. Try trashing your user preference file and restarting.

Go to Home directory/Library/Preferences/com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist. (If you are working on Express it will be /com.apple.FinalCutExpress.plist) Be sure to go through the home directory and not the main library on your hard drive or you risk losing your software registration info. If you're not using Final Cut Pro version 7, you might try a free program called "FCP Rescue", which will do the same thing automatically.

Remember that any time you trash your user preferences, you have to go back in a reset all your preferences again.

Also, double-check that your firewire hasn't gone bad.

Best,

Kelly
