It seems like the idea of making money making TV is now a bit outdated. Sure, it's still a big business, but it seems that making and launching web programming is a more compelling opportunity these days. What do people think?
I think if you go to any website for any major or increasingly minor corporation you are going to see more and more video. This, to me, is where the growth opportunities are for video.

I completely agree. Conventional TV production will not disappear but the opportunities for a place in a shrinking market are small. There are a lot of talented filmmakers looking for work. Here is a link that I did for a psychotherapists web-site about 1.5 minutes in length:http://vimeo.com/18706972
Why a psychotherapist? Easy...they need to gain re-pore in order to get a call from a potential client. Video is a natural.
This is a very interesting question. I am a novice (for the moment), but it seems to me that in the next few years, TV and "the web" will be somewhat synonymous. With that being said, we're reading about movies that have been filmed completely with iphones and itouchs that are being released into major distribution systems. Incredible! It is access to inexpensive technology allowing us the flexibility of creating film and video for ANY platform we wish, TV or web, that truly excites me.

The real money is still in cable, and if you are smart you can deliver great content and undercut the conventional production companies. The gateway for unknown or untested producers is certainly the web.
