I picked up a paperback called, How to Shoot Video that Doesnt Suck by Steve Stockman, many good tips, some we already know and some others we not, good food for thought. Well worth $13.95. He also has a website to answer questions and critique

I am going to China at the end of the month, and I plan to shoot some stories about some of the people I know there. I will definitely take the book with me as well as staying connected to NYVS while on my travels. I have only read one issue of Videomaker, but it seems to cover much of what we fledgling videographers are interested in; editing, lighting, audio, profit making, storyboarding, software, equipment...as far as magazines go, I think it is good professional reading. I am going on another road trip in march, I took 3 pages of notes from the book & will bring them with me & read on occasion, make sure I do not miss anything important, along with notes from NYVS,as well as Lisas critique of my lasy video (thanks Lisa), should have my bases covered. Never heard of Videomaker Mag., any good? What do they cover? Thanks, Bill Kane Helpful Not Helpful

I just bought it last week! A lot of the advice in the book mirrors what Michael teaches in his videos. I particularly like the fact that the book leaves out the technical jargon and focuses on the plain language of making good videos. I looked for the book after seeing a write-up in Videomaker magazine. On the last page of the February issue is "New Titles and Media Reviews." Helpful Not Helpful
