NYVS News   Coming Soon: TouchEdit App for iPad Professional editor Dan Lebental, known for his work on the Iron Man franchise, has set out to bring professional quality video editing to the iPad.  His upcoming frame-based editing app, TouchEdit, strives to be the 21st century version of the Moviola.  It features a clean interface which includes two virtual film strips - one representing source material, the other edited sequences; and supports 8 tracks of audio. Lebental is aiming for a swift release of the app soon with a price of about $50, and says he plans to edit his next project with it. Check it out here >>   CES 2013: New Video Features That May Change How You Shoot The International Consumer Electronics Show ended last week in Las Vegas and as always there is much to be excited about, both for cameras and camcorders.  While each product and company displays its own innovations, here are some things to look out for on products across the board:  Features like 3D capabilities, 4K recording, integrated smartphone apps to use with your camera, as well as smart features integrated right into the camera! Read more here>>   More Women Behind the Camera at Sundance Good News For Women Filmmakers!  2013 marks the first time that half of the dramatic entries to the Sundance Film Festival are films by women.  The New York Times reports that this is part of a larger trend in the entire film industry.  From 2002 to 2012 the number of entries by women represented a quarter of the whole sample - compared to a mere 4.4% equivalent for top box office films. Keep uploading and sharing in 2013 and you could be next! #10: Apache Country Engaging, educational and elegantly-shot, it documents the narrator retracing the steps of the Apache in the harsh terrain of the American Southwest. Check it out here>> #8: Meerkat Harborough Great art direction, a compelling story, charismatic narration, and high quality audio and video made this video stand out. Congratulations, RobTaylor! Check it out here>> #7: The Chase This chase video doesn't skimp on anything, with a range of different locations within the main setting, as well as very cleverly done video effects, cuts and sound engineering. The shots are of a wide variety as well, making for a well-executed, exciting chase scene. Congratulations, kikototev! Check it out here>> #6: Beach Nuts Webisode The personalities are engaging, and the lighting and shots are incredibly professional looking, both in the interviews and on the stage shots. Check it out here>> #5: Ventura's Offshore Cafe in Northfield NJ A polished-looking restaurant feature that nicely integrates customer and employee interviews with shots of multiple locations within the Cafe. It has a great sound mix as well, and could fit in to any Food Network show! For making all of us hungry, congratulations, Nickvideoguy! Check it out here>> #4: Milk Man Great acting, clever art direction and compelling shots make this 'Got Milk?' contest entry very lighthearted and funny. The audio is well-recorded and Michelle makes great (and hilarious) use of vignetting and montage. Congratulations, Michelle! Check it out here>> #3 Fitness Factory Palisades Park This health club promotional video provides a nice focus on one of the instructors, who comes across as very likeable and knowledgeable. The pacing, shots, music, and after-effects make it a great example of a well-executed fitness video. Congratulations, VINIBOMBA! Check it out here>> #2: Little Kids with Big Dreams This portrait of a community music center successfully conveys the importance of the program to its participants, their parents, teachers, and the community. The shots are clever, well-edited and tell a clear story, and the video makes effective use of interview, highlighting instructors, young students (which can be very tricky) and parents.
