NYVS Critique

This is really a very good video MHart, good story, great open, well shot, nicely told and edited, congratulations. Here are some points to help you for your next project: when you're filming against the sky as you do here at 00:39" you can see there is an exposure issue with your subject's face being dark. I understand you wanted the nice view behind him but if you just frame the shot a little tighter on him you'll force the camera to expose better for his face. The audio quality of your voice over is poor and sounds as though perhaps it was recorded using the in-built mic in your computer. You need to work on this, either with a plug in mic or perhaps recording your voice-over into the camera and importing it.

Thank's again Lisa! Yes, I am struggling to get through the voice over audio quality. In this video, I was using an external digital recorder. I was hoping that would be better than the built-in mic from my laptop, unfortunatly, it apears to be on par. For my next project, "Jammin'" I will take your advice and try out doing the voice over right into the camera and importing it in. That actually never occured to me! So, your words are worth a million dollars! I look forward to your critique on the next project, hoping the sound quality is where it needs to be. Thank you so much for your time and wisdom. Very good, Matthew. Good sequences, good voice over. Interesting subject -- I've never seen ANY footage about modern-day trapping. One of the best I've seen on NYVS. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. 1 : Helpful Not Helpful
