This is a great article from Wired which brings readers into a day-in-the-life of on of Demand Media's "film-maker" freelancers. It's quite compelling and makes you vacillate between thinking the model is genius or junk (the quality of a majority of the videos are crap.). At the end of the article the CEO admits: "Long term, weâll make more money by increasing quality"
Translation: The video has to be good.
