You don't say what the background was to this film and it's clearly well put together but a bit heavy handed and would benefit from a little more subtlety. I suggest you take a look at the Canadian film made in 1997 called "The Sweet Hereafter" written and directed by Atom Egoyan. While not directly related to your film it will give you a sense of how to present these kinds of issues in a much more subtle and elegant way.
