About this video

Well, okay. Time to let it go. I discovered I can only make it good only insofar as I know what constitutes good. Duh. I did learn how easy it is to get so attached to particular footage that you ignore whether it contributes to your intended story, or not. Bad, bad sentimental clutter.

Still the NYVS emphasis on storytelling is the core of video making. And slowly I am getting re-focused there (sounds pretty Zen-ish as I write this). Over the past year the little parcels of knowledge from you folks have firmly lodged among my stash of equipage, the beads and trinkets I cart around in pursuit of this remarkable passion. Your patient comments continue to resonate. Mainly. Sincerest thanks.

And a further comment on critiques. If you have video contributions of your own on this forum--things you've done and put out there for your peers to see--please, you are welcome to rate and comment on my videos (a certain credibility and humility comes with personal experience). Too, know that star-ratings without individual, helpful comments are meaningless.Less »

Be careful about shooting a subject in front of a window. This creates backlighting which makes proper exposure more difficult. Possibly a video about the school, and a separate video about the bread would be more powerful. Nice job. Helpful Not Helpful

Completely correct comments (okay, we'll put alliteration aside). I desperately wanted to see the finished breadish things; we, alas, were outta there right after lunch. And the POV kid concept is super... y'know, our impression was that Italians are really paranoid about filming their kids. I was able to get what I did on the basis of being a personal acquaintance of the owner. Which is not to lessen the impact your suggestion about tracking a tiny Carlo or Lisa would've made Helpful Not Helpful

oh yeah... and the story is about making bread. You see the kids working on hard on making the dough en you see the oven in the end, but now I am so curious in what the baked bread looks like. I would have loved it if you would see the kids when they finally would get their hard worked on bread, 1 : Helpful Not Helpful

I really envy your naration voice the naration is just great!! I think the shots are good and the story is suported well by relevant images. the only critique i can think of is that I personaly I would have loved it if the story you are telling was focused on a (person)character, like: if you are a kid.. blabla.. you may spend a day.... This is (kids name) today he/she is going to... Then the viewer experiences this story through the kids eye's, it would in my opinion make it more easy to relate to. but all in all a great movie, I wished I was already that far in my skills! 1 : Helpful Not Helpful
